Why I Created the Hormonal Balance Meditation

I am often asked what motivated me to create the Hormonal Balance Guided Meditation. I wanted to explain why.

From my work with Hypnotherapy, I witnessed first hand the power of the subconscious mind to regulate all systems in the body and promote healing on the physical, mental, psychological, and spiritual levels.

The Meditation was designed to support and comfort women as they move through the many stages of  hormonal change, from puberty, to pregnancy, into motherhood, postpartum and menopause.

I realized it was needed when I learned from my friends and colleagues, Dana Trentini and Mary Shomon, about their new book, now published, Your Healthy Pregnancy with Thyroid Disease. Both women are distinguished thyroid patient advocates and experts, and together, they have created an extraordinarily guide filled with support, deep experiential understanding, and practical tools that inform and empower women for the  best hormonal health.

In their book, Dana and Mary make the point that medication, diet and other lifestyle changes need to be accompanied by a shift in mindset —  getting to a place where you trust that your body can become pregnant, sustain a pregnancy, and deliver a healthy baby. They both felt that more tools are needed to help women achieve that shift.

My new CD/MP3, the Hormonal Balance, Restoring Inner Peace And Power helps you to shift your mind set by giving you a mind-body tool for realigning and healing your endocrine gland system.

As a woman, you are always going through hormonal changes. It all begins when you’re an adolescent stage, with the start of your menstrual cycle and for many of you, progresses into pregnancy, motherhood and postpartum, and eventually, you evolve into a wise woman during menopause.

These passages, while natural, can also be challenging times when you experience severe symptoms of stress, high anxiety, depression and intense hormonal changes that dramatically impact you and trigger deep psychological changes in your self-esteem, self-image and self-acceptance.

Stress is a major contributor to hormonal imbalance, and the root cause of stress is FEAR. Think about it.

When you are frightened or anxious, fear triggers your natural defense mechanism, called the fight-or-flight response. Your hypothalamus gland, responsible for maintaining the body’s internal balance, signals the pituitary gland to stimulate your adrenal glands to release two key stress hormones: cortisol and adrenaline. This triggers a chain reaction throughout your endocrine system that influences all your glands and your thyroid in particular. The greater the fear, the greater the stress. The greater the stress, the more the cortisol and adrenaline are released. Excess stress hormones send you on the rollercoaster ride that leaves you feeling totally out of control, overwhelmed, exhausted and always on high alert for some looming threat to your health or well-being.

Such is the biological nature and psychological process for women. Can you imagine how much more joyful your life would be without a constant flood of stress hormones – a hormonal hangover so to speak? There is no need to imagine. You can make it happen, with meditation.

Meditation is a proven process for accessing the immense healing energy of your subconscious mind. Your subconscious regulates and controls your bodily functions. As you embrace the power of your subconscious mind, you’ll begin to realize your true potential to self-heal your body, mind, heart and hormones. It is healing at its best, the natural way, from the inside out.

Guided meditation takes you effortlessly into a deep state of absolute calm for this is where you truly restore your soul. You’ll quiet the internal struggle and the fight-or-flight response as you accept your biological process and its purposefulness. It is here that you’ll renew your spirit and experience clarity of intention, focus, motivation, resilience and self-acceptance to bring forth your very best.

Hormonal Balance Meditation enables you tap your body’s natural healing ability to regulate and repair itself, improve your mental outlook, and your psychological and physical well being.

While in this deep restful state, the natural intelligence of your body works to restore your hormonal balance while significantly reducing depression, mood swings, mind fog, fatigue and insomnia that drain your vitality and wellbeing.

The benefits are truly amazing! Just by being in the meditative state, your mind becomes still clear and calm. Fear and anxiety subside. Your heart rate relaxes as your blood pressure regulates itself into a normal range. Brain wave activity slows down and triggers human growth hormones, which regulate your metabolism, stimulate fat cells to reduce the amount of stored fats, promote protein synthesis in your cells, and regulate your blood sugar.

Your adrenal glands rest and stop overproducing the stress hormones, helping your thyroid and metabolism.Your endocrine system moves out of a state of high alert. Thyroid, adrenals, and sex hormones now have an opportunity to come back into balance.

Meditation also decreases inflammation at the cellular level, neutralizing acidosis and minimizing pain and discomfort. You’ll feel calm and more confident in touch with your own strength and power. That awful feeling of being vulnerable or overwhelmed subsides. Psychologically, you feel more self-assured and in control again.

The mind-body-spirit connection is now realigned and you experience “Ahhh…” – that peace of mind and a renewed sense of wellness.

image2By re-establishing calm throughout your mind and body, you can quell the inner turmoil and move into that ‘feels great to be alive place.” The unimaginable power of meditation can improve and restore hormonal stability and thyroid function. It can also help you to have greater control over your health and wellbeing.

Whether you are planning to get pregnant, are pregnant now, or you’ve recently had a baby, meditation can and should be an important part of taking care of yourself, as well as your baby.

Change your heart and you’ll change your belief. Change your belief and you’ll change your mind. Change your mind and you can embrace a happy, healthy life – not only your own, but that of your current and future children.

The Amazing Benefits of Guided Meditation

Take Back your Power and Take Control of Yourself and Your Life!

By Demo DiMartile, One Light One Spirit.

The amazing benefits of  meditation and deep relaxation are all over the news. Yet we live in the fast lane of an ever-changing world, and every day we face enormous challenges. Balancing family, finances, career, relationships, and the world in which we live is an endless struggle. Struggle is the basis of conflict, and it produces high anxiety and stress, the killjoys of life. And with anxiety and stress, we feel out of control and our self-esteem plummets.

We end up living in our heads from fear when we were created to live from our hearts from love.

It has been said that everything is within us; the peace, the power and the transformative presence of love to live a healthy, happy, and fulfilling life.

But how do we get from a place of stress and anxiety, to connect with that place of peace and power within. How do we restore balance and reclaim our innate power to live freely and fully?

What is Meditation?

Meditation is the practice for aligning the body, mind and spirit by going within to utilize the power of your belief to create what you truly desire.

Guided meditation, deep relaxation and mind-body techniques are not passing fads or New Age nonsense. They are thourghly researched and proven approaches that have lasting benefits for your health, happiness and self-empowerment.

How Does Guided Meditation Work?

With guided meditation, you don’t need to know how to meditate. All that’s required is that you listen, and you’ll glide effortlessly into the depths of your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind has control over the 37.2 trillion cells of your body. It also controls and connects all 12 systems that keep you alive and functional, including the cardiovascular (heart) system, endocrine, respiratory, nervous, immune, circulatory, digestive, lymphatic (detoxing), muscular, skeletal, reproductive and urinary systems. That is truly impressive and should not be taken for granted.

Your subconscious mind is a power plant of raw creative energy that can be harnessed and directed toward healing, self-improvement and even help you achieve spiritual growth and evolution.

Your subconscious operates on belief. It is tuned in, 24/7, to your thoughts, words, feelings, attitudes and moods, and it will respond to all of them — even if they are contradictory or negative.

You must be mindful and disciplined not to feed your subconscious mind with negative thoughts or negative speech. (“I’m tired. I’m bored. I give up. I can’t. I will never heal.”) Whatever you hold in your thoughts, it will be heard by your cells and body, and manifest as your reality.

Your job is to consciously implant a consistently clear Intention or picture of your desired goal such as “I radiate perfect health and wellbeing!” That way, your subconscious mind will conspire with your desire to manifest your intention – as long as you believe it.

Meditation is a the natural  way to access the power of your subconscious mind, and forge those intentions, pictures and positive goals into your imagination and your experience. This is the intelligence of divine design  in every soul.

    • They slow down brain wave activity and trigger human growth hormones (HGH) . HGH help regulate your metabolism, stimulate fat cells to reduce the amount of stored fats, promote protein synthesis in the cells, and play a role in regulating your blood sugar.
    • They help calm the adrenals and allow them to rest, relieving them from over-producing adrenaline and cortisol — the stress hormones — which can have a devastating effect on your thyroid function and ability to lose weight.
    • They move your endocrine system out of a state of high alert. Hormonal secretions become regulated and all of your hormonal systems — thyroid, adrenals, sex hormones — have an opportunity to come back into balance.  In short, that is what it means to restore your soul.

  • What are the Hormonal and Cellular Effects of Meditation?  Both guided meditation and deep relaxation have a number of amazing effects on your hormones and your body.
  • They provide true physiological relaxation. Your body truly rests, and that’s when you restore balance and vitality throughout your entire body. That is not always the case with sleep. Meditation also improves the quality of your sleep.
  • Meditation alkalizes your system, balancing out acidity caused by stress that has accrued through the overactivity of your analytical mind and the fear-based thinking that triggers and perpetuates stress hormones.
  • Meditation decreases inflammation at the cellular level neutralizing acidosis and minimizing pain.

Just by being in a meditative state, your mind becomes still, clear and reflective. Fear and anxiety, the two major causes of stress, subside. Your heart rate slows down as your blood pressure regulates itself into a “normal range.” You feel calm and more confident, in touch with your own strength and power. That awful feeling of being vulnerable or overwhelmed subsides. Psychologically you feel more self-assured and in control again. The mind-body connection is now aligned and you experience that, “Ahhhh….” – peace of mind and sense of well-being.

As you deepen your meditative state and practice regularly, you’ll find that meditation:

  • Alleviates anxiety, depression, and negative attitudes
  • Reduces fatigue and exhaustion
  • Slows down your biological clock so you can age more gracefully
  • Puts you in touch with your confidence, joy, enthusiasm, and self- worth
  • Evolves your DNA
  • Improves and actually changes your brain

Change your heart and you change your belief. Change your belief and you change your mind. Change your mind and you will see the infinite possibilities to change your world from within.

Guided Meditation and relaxation are powerful tools for taking back your power and having greater control over yourself and you life!

Stress: The Grinch That Steals Your Christmas Spirit

christmasThe holiday season is upon us again, fa la la la la, la la la la.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year.”… but also the most stressful.

Whether it is Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, we reconnect with family and friends to celebrate the Season of Rebirth and Peace. The spirit of giving and receiving sets the tone for the occasion.

Your children are filled with excitement and expectation for new toys, smart phones, iPads and the latest technology. You just can’t disappoint them.

You want to please your children, but you worry about overspending or that cutting back may diminish the reward of their priceless smiles.

And Moms…you carry the load for making everybody happy. You set the frenetic pace to get everything done and you are off and running. You start with the endless decisions about what to get everyone on your ever-expanding holiday list. Then worry that you may have left someone out, or repeat what you gave them last year…if you can only remember what you gave them last year.

Next comes all the shopping. Stores, crows, lines, or hours glued to your computer to find the perfect gift. Rushing around to get it all done. You sit in traffic, often going nowhere. Your mind is racing. You are exhausted. But there’s always more to do: wrapping, baking, holiday concerts, office parties.

Finally, though, there’s a moment to relax. That glass of wine or eggnog might calm the savage beast and subdue the frenzy for a few minutes. You may find even that for a moment, you feel the spirit of the season when you hear the familiar refrain of, “Silent Night, Holy Night.”

But it’s hard stay peaceful for very long. Because this season, there’s a cloud of fear hanging over our nation. The looming presence of violence can sap your faith and make you feel unsafe, vulnerable, and all the more anxious and stressed. And then there’s still that tree to decorate, a holiday dinner to prepare and cook, and…relatives.

Next thing you know, your head is spinning, your heart is pounding, and your blood pressure and adrenaline levels are through the roof. When you do go to bed, you can’t sleep – your head is spinning. So you get up the next day and keep on going… running on empty.

Maxed out, stressed out, wound tight but still upright…barely… your enthusiasm has run out. It becomes impossible to be in the moment.

It is then that you realize that the real “Grinch that stole Christmas” in today’s world is STRESS.

The bottom line? The holidays are about presence – not presents.

But how DO you manage to stay present, and to keep your spirit of peace and joy alive throughout the holidays

Before the holidays, is the time to set the right tone. How can you do that? Some ideas:

  • Ask for help! Remove your supermom cape and keep it off.
  • Determine to lighten your load and stick to it.
  • Delegate and share your responsibilities with family and friends.
  • Replace stressful driving, lines and traffic by shopping online.
  • Engage your whole family in decorating the tree and home.
  • Set a reasonable menu for your holiday dinner. You don’t need a turkey, ham, AND a “roast beast!”
  • Ask everyone joining you for dinner to bring side dishes and desserts.

Throughout the holidays, it’s also essential that you take time out to relax, unwind and bring forth your very best. Some proven ways:

  • Take a yoga class and stretch out instead of stressing out.
  • Exercise: Run, walk, swim, or go to the gym.
  • Meditate: Meditation restores inner peace and allows you to come home to yourself. You’ll be more focused and energized.

Before gatherings, try visualizing a celebration filled with love and laughter. And try these other ideas to help keep the tone joyful and positive:

  • Celebrate the joy of being present as well as opening the presents.
  • Play holiday background music and sing holiday songs together.
  • Stay connected. Limit discussions of politics, negative news and “what’s
    wrong with the world.”
  • No cellphones, unless it’s a group call to loved ones who can’t be there.
  • Be mindful that you don’t have to agree on anything to be kind to one another.
  • Feel the love and be grateful for having one another.

(My secret tip: hang lots of mistletoe and send all arguments there to be resolved!)

This holiday season, be the peace and love, and count your blessings!

A very Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all.

A Grateful Heart is Full and Overflowing with Thanksgiving

thanksgivingAutumn is the season of the harvest and the season of abundance. During this time we come together to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. But every day should be a day of giving thanks for family and friends and life itself.

We are living in challenging times, in an uncertain world disconnected from our hearts and from one another. We don’t have answers, or unity or harmony. We are unsure of our footing and the next steps to take, whether alone or together. All the more reason now to truly harvest the spirit of Thanksgiving and be grateful for all we do have. A grateful heart is full and overflowing with Thanksgiving. Gratitude is an attitude of grace, and encourages us to share with those who have little.

Thanksgiving means living in the moment with an open heart, accepting and appreciating one another, despite our differences. It means giving generously and loving abundantly. We are all one race in the eyes of our Creator: We are the Human Race. The only difference is we are individuals with many paths and many ways to connect to the heart and mind of our Source.

This Thanksgiving, remember that words of praise and acts of kindness are ways to give thanks. They express our compassion and caring, and have the power to touch and uplift others. When you give your best, it returns to you in equal measure.

Keep your heart open. Laugh a lot, and everyday give that you may receive.

Happy Thanksgiving!
